With the frigid weather this winter, we're starting to get cabin fever. So we decided to venture outdoors today for a little Minnesota wintertime activity. We tried snowshoeing at Fort Snelling State Park. Light snow was falling and we walked in the woods and along the frozen lake. Snowshoeing is surprisingly easy, and allows you to get off the beaten path. We were able to follow a family of deer in the woods, and we also saw many wild turkey. So much fun!

Ben Heads to College
Ben headed off to his new adventures at the U of MN this week. Before he took off, we gathered with a few friends for a send off dinner at Little Szechuan. Delicious food and fun conversation fortified him for the busy days ahead.
On Wednesday UMN band camp, known to band members as SPAT camp, began. Ben moved to temporary housing in one of the dorms and started his 14 hour days of intensive music and marching at TCF stadium. With only 9 days to prepare for the home opener, the band has been hard at work from early in the morning to late at night.

Sunday Ben moved into his regular dorm room, where he will spend this year. Nice room with a view of the river. Air conditioning was welcomed on this sweltering day, but probably won't be too long before the cool of Fall arrives in MN.
