Just back from the kids' annual Christmas pageant at MMSA school. A really nice, fun mix of readings and songs. The kindergarteners, predictably, got the big applause but the bigger guys sounded awfully good to us. Ben looked particularly sharp in his coat and tie (he wore Papa's old black overcoat on the way there) and nailed the low notes in Joy to the World, while Emma was chosen to read a little reflection she wrote about her favorite family Christmas memories that featured our lighting of the advent wreath, singing Christmas carols, and reading the Best Christmas Pageant Ever together. Good stuff...
Last week, by the way, was the annual band concert. Ben played clarinet in an all boys Advanced band, while Emma played drums and bells for the Intermediate group. They played one final number together, highlighted by a four measure stretch in which our two had back-to-back two measure solos. The big question, now, on the music front is when/if Ben's fledgling rock and roll band (Random Elements) will get a few bars together to make a visit to their My Space page worthwhile.
