so emma's mmsa team had their first round playoff game today. fortunately, they played their best game of the season and won handily. emma, batting 5th, had probably her best game of the year too: she was 3 for 4 with a double and 4 RBIs (3 with two outs). she also had her usual solid game at catcher including one tag-out double play at the plate. (credit sadie and emily with solid throws). so who's next in the semifinals? the old archrival, st. john the baptist, the only team we have lost to in two years. (the second loss being a season ending blowout last friday that we neglected to mention here in the blog). odds probably aren't the best but we've seen this group of girls rise to the occasion before.
also tomorrow: ben's honor's assembly at school (doug and terri got special invitations) and the final celebratory reception for terri's tenure on campus.
oh and one other thing we almost forgot about: the mmsa safety patrol team--captained by our favorite sixth grader--took second place in the city patrol marching competition this afternoon. (ben will have you know that the team got first and third when he was at mmsa, though failed to place last year when both emma and ben were on the squad).
