updating

okay, well it only took about 7 or 8 months, but the winterized picture of our house is current again. big week of brutally cold weather and snow here, probably with more of the same ahead. oh, do we appreciate the seasons. another thing we appreciate is window repair guys: we got our patio door and back windows fixed up on friday so finally we could take off the plywood and warm up the kitchen.

big sports stuff the past few days: ben had their first game friday--they lost by about 12 but that may have been because doug had to referee when no officials showed up. ben played about 5 or 6 minutes and definitely held his own. emma's hockey team went 2 and 2 since we last posted. the second win was a crazy, 2 1/2 hour, 10 overtime game at their tournament in hastings this weekend. they won 1-0 when the game finally went to shoot-outs. (afterwards some of her school friends threw her a belated surprise birthday party at our house--there were decorations, pizza, a few gifts, cookies and ice creams, and lots of silliness). anyway, she's got a another basketball game now tomorrow afternoon.

biggest news is probably terri getting the "Red Motley" exemplary teaching award at commencement this afternoon. we were all there along with roy and mary, to see her get the award and make a little speech. we celebrated by going out for dinner afterwards.
